2.5 Million Snans Recorded Today at Mahakumbh 2025

On Monday, 2.5 million snans registered for the Maha Kumbh 2025. Over 2.5 million devotees had a ritual holy dip in Triveni Sangam in the city of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan 18, 2025, marking the fourth day of the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. This religious festival is believed to be one of the largest congregations of its kind, with millions of devotees thronging from all parts of the country as well as abroad. The festival began on 13 January and will continue until Feb 26, 2025. Triveni Sangam is a confluence of three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. A holy dip is called 'Snan'. It cleanses sins, purifying them spiritually. According to released figures from authorities, it says that before 5 PM on 18 January, 2.5 million people visited and had their Snan. They comprise of around a million Kalpvasis : those who, by following strict spiritual discipline in these days, spend some time in the life of asceticism.
