Abu Dhabi Mobility Enhances Recycling Efforts with New Units in Al Ain and Al Dhafra

Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) has expanded its recycling initiative by installing two new recycling units in Al Ain and Al Dhafra. This move follows the positive reception of the plastic bottle recycling program launched in 2022, which incentivizes public bus users to participate in recycling efforts. The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and Cycled Technologies, introduces advanced recycling units designed to collect plastic bottles at major bus stations. These units are equipped with smart technology to track and reward recycling activities. Under the program, individuals who deposit plastic bottles into the new recycling units earn points that can be redeemed for public bus fares. Points are awarded based on the size of the bottles: each small bottle (600ml or less) will receive 1 point, large bottles (over 600ml) will receive 2 points.

Points are collected electronically via the Cycled Rewards app and converted into a personal Hafilat card number. For each token received, users will receive 10 files, and convert 10 tokens to AED1. This credit can be used to pay the bus fare through the automatic payment system available on public buses. This expansion demonstrates AD Mobility’s commitment to promoting sustainability and increasing public participation in recycling, encouraging bus users to participate to protect the environment.
