A residential apartment complex in Bengaluru has made a giant leap towards sustainability by adopting clean energy through a 342 kW rooftop solar project recently completed by LONGI in association with SolarSquare. From completion to generating a milestone of 340,000 units of electricity in seven months, it is one impressive installation that harnessed the potential of LONGI’s advanced Hi-MO 5 solar panels for power generation. The project remains a watermark in energy efficiency for the city by presenting the savings through the adoption of solar power in urban settings.
The major aim of erecting the rooftop solar system was to salvage the cost of electricity for the residents. After erecting the solar panels, yearly expenses for electricity at the complex stood to be about $143,305. System Integration is likely to cut this in half and produce between $47,768 and $53,768 annually in savings. This is mainly attributed to the efficiency of the Hi-MO 5 modules, economies of scale, and the inbuilt benefits of rooftop solar energy. Even more so, the economics of the project are exemplified in the fact that its break-even period is projected at only four and three-quarter years into operation, thus ensuring that users derive long-term financial and environmental benefits.
High efficiency and stability are ensured in this product through the employment of advanced Hi-MO 5 technology, a foundation of this project. This next-generation module is a precursor to making residential solar power more accessible as well as economical. LONGI has been pioneering solar technology since 2000 and remains a company that is at the forefront of solar energy solutions in areas such as monosilicon wafers, cells, and modules, commercial and industrial distributed solutions, and green hydrogen products. It is in alignment with India’s pursuit of renewable energy, particularly in the rapidly developing urban centers such as Bengaluru.
The partnership with SolarSquare does this even better by further intensifying the scope and influence of LONGI products. If the latest technology is introduced at home, the collaboration would want to achieve widespread application of renewable energy. This and similar projects, if we consider initiatives undertaken across the entire country, will certainly be critical on their journey toward becoming a sustainable nation and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Beyond savings, this project is a witness to the increasing tendency of residential complexes to opt for a solution through renewable sources for attaining energy independence. The rooftop solar installation has been a very practical and scalable model for energy transformation. The success story in Bengaluru bodes well for other residential complexes in the country and will help meet India’s renewable energy targets and carbon reduction commitments.
LONGI has always focused on innovation, underlined by its mission to “make the best of solar energy to build a green world.” The company continually enhances its product offerings and responds to the needs of customers, so it remains at the helm of the global renewable energy space. Diverse engagements by LONGi in entities ranging from monosilicon wafers and modules to distributed solar and green hydrogen solutions demonstrate holistic involvement in supporting the global transition toward a carbon-zero world.
