EcoVadis Launches Carbon Data Network for Emissions Transparency
EcoVadis launches Carbon Data Network to enhance emissions transparency and support global decarbonization efforts.

Speaking at the Sustain 2025 event, EcoVadis rolled out its innovation-rich Carbon Data Network (CDN), taking another giant leap forward in company-level carbon emission management. The CDN platform will deepen the visibility and credibility of key carbon data worldwide across the world's complex global supply networks, a sine qua non component for successful decarbonization measures. With just 16% of significant global corporations so far on the path to fulfill their Net Zero targets by 2050, the need for accurate and auditable emissions information has never been more pressing.
The CDN is founded on EcoVadis' vast network of more than 150,000 organizations, giving companies unique visibility into the validity of their suppliers' carbon emissions data. This is happening at a time when regulatory systems such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) are raising the stakes for carbon reporting accountability. Businesses are now being asked to quantify and report their emissions more precisely than ever, and efforts such as EcoVadis' CDN are becoming more critical in the battle against climate change.
Pierre-François Thaler, co-founder and co-CEO of EcoVadis, highlighted the importance of innovation in reaching Net Zero. "The path to Net Zero requires courageous action, collaboration, and faith in data. That is why we are innovating to enhance data availability and reliability through automation and AI. With the network that we've established, we are now capable of producing insights on carbon reliability at a data point level," he said.
The CDN taps into EcoVadis' already established Carbon Action Manager (CAM) platform, allowing businesses to engage their suppliers according to their unique carbon maturity levels. This customized framework allows companies to execute successful decarbonization tactics and achieve substantive emissions reductions. Some of the main features of the network include Corrective Action Plans, a Carbon Estimator, and the ability to take training through EcoVadis Academy, preparing businesses with what they need to achieve their carbon reduction objectives.
One of the key points of emphasis of the CDN's evolution is its strategic alliances with carbon accounting companies Sweep and Normative. These will grant easy access to underlying emissions data, vastly lowering the intricacies of Scope 3 reporting. Scope 3 emissions, which originate in supply chains and indirect business operations, tend to be the most difficult to quantify because they are so complex and dependent upon third-party information. By integrating with Sweep and Normative, EcoVadis makes this process simpler, allowing firms to have access to and utilize supplier emissions data within their reporting structures.
The success of a pilot project with Sweep proved the effectiveness of the platform, which helped mutual client SNCF collect carbon data from hundreds of suppliers efficiently. A current pilot with Normative is likely to be equally successful, further establishing the potential of the CDN in making emissions reporting easier.
Julia Salant, EcoVadis General Manager of Carbon Solutions, pointed to the importance of such partnerships in bringing carbon data within reach. "Our aim is to equip companies with insights and make it simpler for them to access primary supplier data precisely where they perform their Scope 3 calculations.". By expanding our ecosystem with partners like Sweep and Normative, we’re helping businesses to move from industry averages to primary emissions data and seamlessly bring it into their reporting and decarbonization efforts,” she explained.
EcoVadis is proactively developing its partnership ecosystem, understanding that collective action is needed to spur global decarbonization. By building closer ties between companies, suppliers, and carbon data providers, the firm seeks to stimulate more impactful climate action across industries.
With sustainability laws closing in and corporate accountability on the agenda, products such as the Carbon Data Network provide companies with a route to Net Zero. Having access to accurate and open emissions data will be a game-changer for companies seeking to meet global climate goals. EcoVadis' latest product not only assists individual corporate action on sustainability but also helps fuel the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
With the CDN now established, companies have a valuable tool to improve the accuracy of their carbon reporting, comply with regulations, and make significant strides toward minimizing their environmental footprint. As more companies embrace this solution, the expectation is that the current 16% of Net Zero-aligned companies will increase substantially, eventually leading to a more sustainable future.
