Solar Energy to Light Up Himachal’s Future

Rapid upgradation in the generation of solar power within the state has been called for by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Underlining the need for expeditiously receiving the ongoing solar-power projects under commission, the Chief Minister on Monday announced that the department had already been asked to adopt stricter and stricter ways for the purpose to ensure that the projects get commissioned at a speedier pace without compromising on quality for once.

Further, he said, “We have already materialized a 32 MW solar power project at Pekhubela in Una district. Also under construction is a 10 MW project within the Kutlehar assembly constituency, paralleled with a 5 MW project in the Gagret assembly constituency. These are likely to be completed in the next six months.”.

With power consumption rising across the state, Chief Minister Sukhu has asked officials to expedite the projects, displaying the new sites for solar development in near future. The state’s sources of energy have mostly depended on hydropower, so it seems that solar energy development will help the state to diversify its energy sources.

The sustainable and renewable energy source of solar energy is gaining more significance for the state in reducing its carbon footprint and dependency on fossil fuels. It is for this reason that the government is focusing on solar power, given its lack of regular maintenance and a longer lifespan when in operation, compared to other sources of energy.

Besides, the Chief Minister highlighted that green initiatives could help in combating climate change. The state is indeed helping to contribute toward the mitigation of global efforts regarding global warming through the promotion of solar power in attaining a cleaner environment for the future.

As the state gains its solar power capacity, the role of the government concerning renewable energy will be key in meeting energy demands, thus ensuring environmental sustainability.
