IDFC FIRST Bank’s Commitment to Human Rights and Waste Management Shines in Latest Report

IDFC FIRST Bank has laid out a very strong framework for human rights, environmental management, and community engagement. The bank’s commitment to uphold high standards in these areas vindicates its pledge toward ethical conduct and sustainability.
On the human rights front, IDFC FIRST Bank had only one complaint related to workplace issues in March 2023. This was redressed within the statutory timeframe, thereby showcasing the robustness of the bank’s grievance management system. It has laid down a clear mechanism for the redressal of complaints about sexual harassment under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, through the formation of an internal committee to probe charges. A zero-tolerance policy is adopted for prejudice, bias against gender, and harassment. Training and awareness programs in this regard are ongoing. Although no business process changes resulted from human rights grievances in the fiscal year 2023-24, the bank remains committed to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in all its processes. All premises of IDFC FIRST Bank—the main office and most branches—have wheelchair ramps for easy movement of their differently-abled employees and visiting customers.

In terms of the environment, good developments in water resource management and waste management were registered at IDFC FIRST Bank. STPs are present at large office locations, including the corporate head office, and such installations ensure that the waste water is suitably treated and recycled. The bank is also working on expanding the use of STPs to additional offices. The Bank has in place waste management practices, like recycling paper waste from major offices and responsible disposal of e-waste and battery waste through certified vendors. Reduce plastic use by replacing plastics with reusable or sustainably sourced alternatives. The Bank adheres to all applicable environmental regulations and uses them in spirit. Its CPCB-certified DG sets are used efficiently by the highest-order UPS systems to take care of noise control.

IDFC FIRST Bank has reported a total of 39,404 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions, including those from purchased goods, travel, and employee commuting. In that regard, the Bank shall continue its best efforts towards the reduction of its carbon footprint and improvement of sustainability practices.
