Indus Towers Limited Advances Sustainability and Employee Welfare in 2024

Indus Towers Limited, one of India’s leaders in the telecom infrastructure provider segment, has just released its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report for FY 2023–24. This report encapsulates the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices and its good environmental stewardship, together with its strong agenda on employee welfare, firmly setting it as a responsible corporation.

Indus Towers wants to integrate ESG principles and practices into operations while providing telecom tower infrastructure all across India. The company has laid down its aspirations related to sustainability, which consist of achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 and increasing solar-powered sites to over 25,000 by 2025. In the financial year 2023-24, Indus Towers followed it up with several mega-plans, like having more than 14,000 solar sites, which reduces dependency on diesel and thereby reduces GHG emissions.
The welfare of the employees remains one of the core concerns of the corporate philosophy within Indus Towers. The company reported 100% coverage for permanent employees and workers in health and accident insurance. It also boasts a diversity and inclusion program wherein its percentage of women in the workforce is now 11.8%, growing. It has also designed and implemented an occupational health and safety management system for the company, reflecting a significant fall in workplace injuries and a pledge to zero harm by the year 2025.

Indus Towers’ commitment to sustainability finds an extension in waste management, where it ensures that 100% of hazardous battery waste and e-waste is sent for recycling or safe treatment. The practices of sustainable sourcing adopted ensure adherence of partners to strict standards in environmental, social, and governance spheres, thereby ensuring the overall sustainability of its supply chain.
