Jindal Stainless Commissions Odisha's Largest Captive Solar Project in Partnership with AB Energia Solutions

Jindal Stainless, one of India’s leading stainless steel manufacturers, has inaugurated a significant renewable energy initiative at its Jajpur facility in Odisha. In collaboration with AB Energia Solutions, the company has commissioned a 30 MWp rooftop solar power plant, marking it as the largest captive industrial solar installation in the state. This move underscores Jindal Stainless's commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and its ambitious Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.​

Project Overview

The newly commissioned solar plant spans the rooftops of various shop floors at the Jajpur unit. With an investment exceeding ₹120 crore, the facility is expected to generate approximately 40 million units of clean electricity annually. This output will significantly reduce the plant's reliance on conventional power sources, thereby decreasing its carbon footprint and contributing to the company's net-zero emissions target by 2050.​

The collaboration with AB Energia Solutions, a firm specializing in renewable energy projects, facilitated the seamless integration of the solar infrastructure. Strategic Significance

This solar initiative is part of Jindal Stainless's broader strategy to enhance its sustainability credentials. Previously, the company invested over ₹120 crore in installing rooftop solar plants at its Hisar and Jajpur units, totaling 27 MWp capacity. These projects have collectively generated about 795 million units of electricity, with a carbon abatement potential of 564,450 tonnes over their 25-year lifespan. Such initiatives not only contribute to environmental conservation but also offer economic benefits through reduced energy costs and improved energy security.​
