Jindal Stainless carried out plastic reduction initiatives, e-waste collection drives, plantation activities and environmental awareness programmes.
Jindal Stainless organised a series of environmental initiatives across its Hisar and Jajpur facilities to mark World Environment Day 2026. The activities focused on waste management, reducing plastic use, environmental awareness and increasing green cover through participation from employees and local communities.
The company introduced an effort towards plastic reduction in Hisar by handing out 10,000 reusable cotton bags to vegetable sellers in the market. This drive was carried out with the objective of encouraging people to use alternative options instead of single-use plastic bags.
Another drive initiated by the company was related to the collection of e-waste in coordination with an authorized recycler called Gauvins Green Management Pvt Ltd As much as 900 kg of e-waste was collected from their plants and nearby residential areas.
In the case of its Jajpur plant, awareness drives were held among the company’s employees, contractual employees, students and local inhabitants. Such drives revolved around issues related to waste segregation, reduction of plastic usage, leading a sustainable life style and increasing the greenery cover. In addition, another such drive was organized for women leaders among the community people of neighbouring villages at the Jindal Institute of Industrial Training, Danagadi.
Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Abhyuday Jindal, said, “Environmental responsibility cannot remain limited to the boundaries of our plants; we believe in making it a part of everyday behaviour. We are attempting to strengthen a shared sense of ownership towards sustainability by engaging employees, local communities, and future generations alike. Small actions, when adopted collectively, can create meaningful long-term impact.”
Among other initiatives, there were plantation campaigns conducted in both working places as well as in neighboring regions. A total of 1,500 saplings were planted in Jajpur with a view to boosting the greenery and environmental balance. Besides, there were competitions and activities related to the environment arranged especially for kids.
Speaking on the response to the programmes, Unit Head Hisar, Jindal Stainless, Vijay Bindlish, said, “The response from local vendors, employees, and residents to the plastic-free and e-waste initiatives has been encouraging. Sustainability becomes more effective when practical solutions are integrated into everyday life, and these programmes are aimed at building greater awareness and participation at the grassroots level.”
Unit Head Jajpur, Jindal Stainless, Deepak Agrawal, said, “Sustainability is most meaningful when it is collective. We are building that shift by engaging our people and communities to make environmental responsibility a shared, everyday practice. By including women and children as the change agents, we hope to set in motion a virtuous cycle of positive action for our planet.”
The initiatives were organised to form part of its broader sustainability and community engagement efforts.
