Kumbh Mela 2025: Faith Congregation and Sustainable

Kumbh Mela 2025 Prayagraj: congregation and celebration marking commitment to sustainable development in the new millennium. Being from a heritage that epitomizes all that was ever modernity, but now, how this approach, in turn, places priority on inclusiveness, sustainability, well-being and prosperity.

Health, Nutrition and Well-being (SDG 3)
Under the headlines "World's Biggest Bath", health and sanitation have been announced to be the theme for the main flag for Kumbh Mela 2025. As long as millions of pilgrims throng India for it, adequate Sikshaa and Swasthya Nodal Camp service would be accessed from the closest medical booths there for all pilgrims. A better health environment develops by the cleaning activities. Visitors adhere to hygiene and safety conditions for sojourn from the educational campaigns made upon visitation requests.
Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6)
Around 400 million are expected to come to Kumbh this year because this holy festival is being held after 144 years. On important bathing dates like Mauni Amavasya on January 29, officials estimate 5 million to 10 million visitors. This number of devotees is supposed to generate around 16 million liters of faecal waste and 240 million litres of grey water every day, through various daily routine activities like cooking, washing and bathing. Of course, critical ones are providing clear water and maintaining sanitation for which the pollution control board takes a daily examination of the river. Flowers and pooja materials are segregated from the water every day through separate segregation mechanisms. Greywater is passed on to the treatment centers through a 200 km provisional drainage network. Human excreta waste disposal is managed through advanced technology, making it still fit for bathing in the Ganga during Maha Kumbh.

Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
Such events bring a turnaround for the whole city, thus improving the life of its citizens.

Infrastructure Developed for Kumbh Mela 2025: Sustainable Urban Development
Construction of shelters, roads, and public facilities is strong as well as green. They form a direct demand for the event but work towards the further growth of the region in the long run.
Consumption and Production Pattern Responsible (SDG 12)
Now, Maha Kumbh has become plastic-free this time. For that, various measures have been initiated from day one. The administration even sent postcards to parents. In them, they have appealed to the parents that keep the fair and the city free of plastic. Further, 1,800 sevadoots have been deputed in different sectors for spreading the message of sustainability. All single-use plastics are avoided, and all other eco-friendly materials are maximized so that this big gathering in the city will not affect the environment.

Climate Action/SDG 13
The event has been very careful in the urgency of climate change through green initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint. The use of public vehicles is highly encouraged to reduce vehicle emissions, while the use of eco-friendly materials in construction and daily operations is highly encouraged.
All tent structures, restrooms, and other shelters are made of sustainable material like bamboo and recycling materials. The systems would ensure all water consumption and energy use is minimal, yet hygienic, through the use of composting systems and water-efficient sanitation units.

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)
This is a collaboration achievement of Kumbh Mela 2025. The event collaborates with environmental bodies and experts to implement eco-friendly initiatives. The organizers of the event team up with government agencies, consultants in sustainability, and NGOs to adopt best practices and catch up with the environmental needs. There are environment awareness programs that run every day for the visitors on green initiatives and how they can contribute.

Green Energy Options
The event organizers have been trying to minimize the carbon footprint of the event by using renewable sources of energy.

Solar Power: Solar panels have been installed all over the Mela grounds for powering temporary infrastructures such as lights, charging stations, and sound systems, with the intention of reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Energy-efficient Infrastructure: The lighting of the event spaces has been done through LED lights that reduce energy consumption by half.
Transport within the Mela area is encouraged through Electric Vehicles, such as e-rickshaws, electric buses: No air and thus less event-related carbon. It is, as of date, a leading global example that can be produced only by marrying spiritual values and environment consciousness through an event in Kumbh Mela 2025 which looks toward a brighter future where religion goes hand-in-hand with sustainable living.
