Masdar TotalEnergies EPointZero Partner For Clean Energy
Masdar, TotalEnergies, and EPointZero partner to expand clean energy in Africa, Asia, and India.

In a major step towards speeding up the world's clean energy transition, Masdar, TotalEnergies, and EPointZero have entered into a Framework for Action (FFA) to increase sustainable electricity solutions in Africa and Asia. This strategic partnership underscores the increasing business collaboration between the UAE and France and enhances the global shift towards renewable energy.
The deal was sealed on February 16, 2025, during the UAE-France High-Level Business Council meeting in Paris, a meeting that came after important talks between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders discussed important global issues such as energy transition, artificial intelligence, and climate action, further cementing the economic and technological relations between the two countries.
Masdar and TotalEnergies will cooperate to deliver sustainable electricity solutions across Africa with a view to building clean energy infrastructure in rapidly developing economies where renewable energy is a key driver of development. As part of the collaboration, TotalEnergies will also cooperate with EPointZero to accelerate India's ambitious energy transition by developing solar, wind, and energy storage projects. The project is set to be an important contribution towards India's decarbonization drive, consistent with the country's goals of cutting carbon emissions and raising the proportion of renewables in its energy basket.
The partnership among these top energy firms is likely to speed up the installation of renewable energy solutions in developing markets. Africa, with its enormous untapped solar and wind power resources, is a priority for investment in clean electricity initiatives. Southeast Asia, another priority region for the partnership, has been experiencing an increasing need for renewable energy as nations aim to cut dependence on fossil fuels and achieve sustainability targets.
Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi cited the significance of this agreement as a further demonstration of strengthening relations between UAE and France as well as enhancing socio-economic growth. He pointed out that the venture is not solely about deploying green energy solutions but also empowering neighboring communities, fostering employment opportunities, and propelling economic development. Al Ramahi reaffirmed Masdar's goal of leading worldwide energy transformation while stressing the call for international co-operation to cope with climate change.
Stéphane Michel, President Gas, Renewables, and Power at TotalEnergies, concurred, indicating the joint know-how and assets of Masdar, EPointZero, and TotalEnergies would boost investment in renewable energies in rapidly growing markets by quite a large extent. He explained that the association would assist in speeding up the transition to clean energy in parts of the world where clean power solutions are necessary most.
H.E. Mariam Almheiri, Group CEO of EPointZero, highlighted the wider economic benefits of increasing access to clean energy in emerging markets. She noted that renewable energy projects not only contribute to decarbonization but also drive economic growth by opening up new industries, generating investment, and offering millions of people access to affordable and reliable electricity.
The accord is part of the world's efforts to increase the deployment of renewable energy and lower carbon emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UAE and France, both leaders in clean energy development, have been strengthening their bilateral cooperation in the renewable industry. The latest endeavor is a testimony to their joint vision of achieving sustainable development and overcoming energy security issues through innovation.
The past couple of years have seen Masdar grow significantly in clean energy ventures on an international level, with investments made in wind power, solar energy, and hydrogen projects in many different continents. Global energy colossus TotalEnergies has also grown its clean energy assets, spurred by the acute realization of breaking free from the shackles of fossil fuels. On the other hand, EPointZero has been keenly looking to scale up decarbonization by advanced energy storage means and major renewables initiatives.
The collaboration of these firms is a milestone in the shift towards a cleaner future. With developing countries in Africa and Asia seeking to satisfy increasing energy needs while tackling climate change issues, investments in clean energy infrastructure will be pivotal. By combining their collective know-how, Masdar, TotalEnergies, and EPointZero are poised to play a revolutionary role in the shaping of the world's energy landscape.
This deal is a template for future global collaborations to increase access to renewable energy in underserved areas. As climate crises worsen, the imperative for aggressive and strategic investment in clean energy grows more urgent. The UAE-France cooperation, through this project, not only drives energy transition initiatives but also establishes a precedent for international cooperation in addressing one of humanity's most urgent challenges.
