Trane Technologies, a global climate innovation leader, announced today that it has named Mauro Atalla as its new Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, effective January 5, 2025. With more than 26 years of experience in the industrial sector, Atalla will succeed Paul Camuti, who will retire at the end of 2024 after a distinguished tenure at the company.
In this new role, Atalla will lead the development of Trane Technologies’ product and innovation and sustainability strategies, reporting directly to Dave Regnery, Chair and CEO. He will focus on using advanced technologies that power the firm’s bold 2030 Sustainability Commitments. His leadership is expected to further cement Trane Technologies’ position as a leader in the delivery of sustainable solutions that power business growth with a transformative impact across global markets.
“We’re excited to welcome Mauro as our new Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer,” said Dave Regnery. “Innovative technology is paramount to advancing our purpose-driven strategy. Mauro will be a great addition to our team as we continue to innovate for our customers, create value for our shareholders, and contribute to a sustainable future.”
Atalla comes from the industrial world, with some of the most senior positions being held at Collins Aerospace Systems, where he had responsibility for a staff of 21,000 engineers globally. His time at Collins was marked by various accomplishments, such as the leadership of technology development and sustainability efforts, along with integrations of the highest order involving Rockwell Collins and mergers between United Technologies and Raytheon.
Atalla’s academic and professional accolades further underscore his qualifications: a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech, and an MBA from Duke University. He was named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2023 and received the Aerospace Executive Award from SAE International in 2024.
Atalla Takes Up the New Role as Trane Technologies Continues to Drive Significant Progress in Sustainability Recently recognized by the Science Based Targets Initiative as one of the world’s first Net-Zero-approved organizations, the company continues to maintain its commitment to its environmental goals. With Atalla at the helm, the organization will look to incorporate innovative technologies into its product roadmaps to ensure they align with its sustainability objectives while increasing market impact.
Atalla’s appointment marks a pivotal leadership transition following the retirement of Paul Camuti. Camuti has been instrumental in shaping Trane Technologies’ sustainability strategy and technology roadmaps, playing a key role in driving innovation and performance. Reflecting on Camuti’s contributions, Regnery said, “Paul has had a long and distinguished career in technology and innovation. He played a pivotal role in shaping Trane Technologies’ sustainability strategy, technology roadmaps, and helping to advance innovation to drive performance. We’re grateful for his many contributions and wish him the very best in his retirement.”
With Atalla at the helm, this demonstrates Trane Technologies’ continued commitment to innovation and sustainability. This strategic leadership succession shows the company’s further commitment to driving a sustainable future while continuing to provide value to its customers and stakeholders across the globe.
