Metinvest Group Finalist In Reuters Sustainability Awards
Metinvest Group has been named one of the top eight finalists for the Reuters Sustainability Awards 2024 in the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion category, marking the company’s first-ever nomination for the prestigious global award. The recognition came for its project titled “The Hero’s Way: Metinvest’s Veterans Integration Ecosystem,” which focuses on supporting war veterans, making it the only finalist program with such an emphasis. The Reuters gala award ceremony, held in London on October 1, saw Metinvest’s initiative stand out among the finalists for its focus on the reintegration of veterans into the workforce. Despite not taking the top prize, which went to Swiss company Holcim for their “Women On Wheels” project aimed at involving women in truck driving and production, Metinvest’s inclusion in the finalist group highlighted the company’s significant efforts to support veterans. Tatyana Petruk, Director of Sustainable Development and Human Resources at Metinvest, emphasized that the company’s recognition is an acknowledgment of the everyday work done by managers, executives, and employees to welcome veterans back to the workforce. He said that the integration of former employees is a challenge and an opportunity for the company, and it is very important for a large business in Ukraine. Matin West is ready to lead this project in Ukraine, because one out of six of our employees is in the army. "We are committed to serving all veterans who have returned from combat and continue to create programs that meet their needs," Petrock said. Martin West's Veteran Integration Ecosystem is a comprehensive program aimed at reintegrating veterans into the company's operations. More than 1,000 veterans have joined the company, and another 8,000 employees are still serving in the military. The company's focus on supporting veterans shows a stronger commitment to social responsibility in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. The Reuters Sustainability Awards is considered the world's leading indicator of sustainability leadership and has been a benchmark for companies for the past 14 years. In 2024, 16 winners were named in four main categories: climate and environment, strategies and management, creating social change (including diversity, equity and inclusion) and reporting and the investment. Mateen West's credentials show his role as one of the biggest financiers of the Ukraine war, spending more than $28.1 billion since the start of the Russian invasion.
