National Energy Conservation Day 2024: Innovations Driving A Greener Future
National Energy Conservation Day 2024: Innovations Driving A Greener Future
As we progress over time, the demand for petrol, electricity, gas, and other natural resources is increasing. Unfortunately, their usage is exceeding actual needs, leading to overconsumption compared to earlier times. The excessive usage of energy is exhausting the resources at a very alarming rate, leading to severe environmental destruction. Overutilization of all the natural resources contributes to air pollution, climatic change, and global warming affecting humans and animals and the whole ecosystem. Unless immediately cared for in terms of conservation of energy, most of the natural resources would disappear within the next 50 or 60 years. Therefore, immediate action is crucial—it's now or never.
Recognising the urgency of such issues, National Energy Conservation Day, celebrated annually on December 14, tries to foreground the adoption of sustainable practices that can help preserve Nature's bounties. The day emphasizes the fact that energy efficiency is intrinsically linked with economic development, environmental protection, and long-term energy security. With innovation leading from the industry this year, actionable strategies and disruptive technologies that can truly redefine the pattern of energy use and show the way to a greener resilient future were put under the spotlight.
Hydrogen and Green Fuels: A Vision for 2030
According to Gul Basantani, Partner-Government, Infrastructure and Development Advisory Services at Forvis Mazars in India, hydrogen and green fuels have the potential to be game-changers for structuring the sustainable energy ecosystem. More than 500 large-scale hydrogen projects across the world by 2030 could attract investments of over $500 billion and bring down carbon emissions, giving a push to clean energy.
It therefore follows that, according to the IEA, clean hydrogen has the potential to avoid a full 830 million tons of CO2 annually. Green fuels, including ammonia, biofuels, and synthetic alternatives, are extremely vital for those sectors like aviation and shipping, where energy challenges face particularly strong constraints; improvements in any one area would be done simultaneously with reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels and improved energy security. Net-zero by 2050 requires hydrogen and green fuels at the forefront of the global energy mix.
Driving Energy Efficiency in Industry
Vijay Karia, Chairman and Managing Director of Ravin Group, highlights the pivotal role industries play in advancing sustainability. Reflecting on the significance of National Energy Conservation Day, he reiterates the commitment to energy-efficient solutions that prevent wastage and ensure a greener future.
“Our electrical cables and accessories are essential tools for energy transmission, minimizing losses and enhancing system efficiency,” says Karia. Through continuous innovation in materials, designs, and technology, Ravin Group contributes to national energy conservation goals while empowering industries to lower their carbon footprint without compromising safety and performance.
Karia adds, “Let us pledge to make energy conservation a way of life. Together, we can create a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.”
National Energy Conservation Day 2024 invites industries, governments, and individuals to adopt practices that prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability. As innovative technologies and collaborative efforts redefine energy use, this day serves as a collective call to action, inspiring a commitment to a greener tomorrow.
