Jersey City, N.J. and Tempe, Ariz., July 9, 2024 – Persefoni, an innovative provider of carbon accounting and climate risk management solutions, announced today it is partnering with the Global Association of Risk Professionals, GARP. This will be to inject practical sustainability and climate principles into the continuing professional development offered by GARP through the SCR Certificate Program.
GARP is a globally recognized not-for-profit association that provides comprehensive risk education programs across more than 195 countries to risk managers. Known for the FRM® Certification, in January 2020, GARP launched the SCR Certificate, which aims to equip candidates with essential knowledge related to sustainability and climate risk, including information on regulatory initiatives, green finance, nature risk, and transition planning—within ten modules.
Recently, Persefoni has just launched the Persefoni Pro platform—a solution devised to help companies exactly measure carbon footprints and manage scope 1 and scope 2 emissions, with scope 3 planned for integration in the near future. By integrating the solution from Persefoni Pro under the SCR Program, GARP will ensure that candidates have practical competencies in greenhouse gas accounting and reporting to guide their respective organizations toward carbon neutrality and any other set sustainability goals.
Mike Wallace, Chief Decarbonization Officer at Persefoni, pointed out the application of candidates in this SCR Program in developing their skills to become sustainability and climate risk specialists. In partnership with Persefoni, this SCR curriculum will be expanded for students by practical examples from the field of application using this fundamental knowledge taught in the program.
Beth Creller, GARP Program Manager, SCR, commented, “This partnership is an example of GARP’s continuing commitment to providing professionals with the tools and expertise they need to respond to some of the most critical risks confronting the world today.” This move will mean that SCR candidates and certificate holders will be better placed to lead their firms on activities concerning climate-related risks and opportunities.
Early registration for the October SCR Exam ends July 31, while standard registration will run until September 30. Globally administered from October 19 through November 2, this examination represents a great opportunity for all those interested in increasing their level of knowledge in areas related to sustainability and climate risk management.
Those wishing to get more information about either the SCR Certificate Program or to register for the upcoming exam should go to GARP’s website.
