Robeco, an international asset manager, has launched the Robeco Climate Equities Indices, a new index family designed to provide investors with exposure to investments that support global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and address climate change. The indices cater to a range of climate investing stages and incorporate Robeco’s proprietary tools to measure company contributions to a low-carbon economy and their carbon footprint. The indices use several metrics, including the Climate Traffic Light, which assesses alignment with the Paris Agreement; the SDG Framework, which evaluates alignment with relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and Climate Beta, which measures a company’s exposure to climate transition risk. The new index family includes three indices: the Robeco Developed Low-Carbon Climate Leaders Tilt Equities Index, the Robeco Developed Paris-Aligned Climate Leaders Tilt Equities Index, and the Robeco Developed Climate Leaders Equities Index.
Robeco Developed Low-Carbon Climate Leaders Tilt Equities Index .This index targets market returns while maintaining a carbon footprint 30% lower than the broader market, focusing on companies that contribute to the low-carbon economy transition and avoiding those more exposed to climate risk.
Robeco Developed Paris-Aligned Climate Leaders Tilt Equities Index-This index aims for market returns with a carbon footprint at least 50% lower than the underlying universe and an annual decarbonization rate of at least 7%, in line with EU Paris-Aligned Benchmarks (PABs). It tilts towards companies with strong climate commitments and away from those misaligned with net-zero pathways. –
Robeco Developed Climate Leaders Equities Index-This index focuses on companies providing solutions for the low-carbon economy transition. It emphasizes companies contributing positively to climate change mitigation and aligned with the Paris Agreement goals, while underweighting those with higher climate risk. These indices offer investors various options for integrating climate metrics and gaining exposure to companies actively involved in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
