Rupa & Company Reports Progress in Business Responsibility and Sustainability for 2023-24

Rupa & Company Limited has come up with its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report for the financial year 2023-24, stating its commitment to the organization towards sustainable and responsible behavior. Being in the leadership in the hospitality industry, Rupa was informed in a detailed manner on the steps taken to upgrade corporate responsibility, environmental stewardship, and social impacts.

This report represents an endeavor of Rupa to inculcate sustainability into the core business processes. As 100% of the turnover relates to manufacturing and selling hosiery products, the company remains committed to the responsible use of resources and employee welfare. The BRSR discusses how Rupa addresses key environmental risks of energy efficiency, waste management, water utilization, and mitigation of climate-related impacts.

The corporate offices and manufacturing facilities in India adopt strict energy and climate management. Rupa said it has achieved a reduction of 11% in energy intensity from the previous financial year. Other continuous efforts are made for traditional lighting with energy-saving LEDs and finding renewable sources of energy. Apart from these environmental goals, Rupa tackles its social commitment via various corporate social responsibility programs. Accordingly, it is committed to giving full support to various initiatives for community upliftment, which involve improvement of the quality of healthcare, education, and poverty eradication.

It generally upholds the values of transparency and integrity from a governance perspective. It follows a very strong grievance redressal system for customers, employees, and shareholders. Rupa also follows ethical labor practices; hence, ensuring diversity and inclusion within the workforce. The cases of human rights violations, discrimination, and workplace harassment were NIL during 2023–24 at the company, stating its commitment to a safe and inclusive environment in the workplace.

Looking ahead, Rupa & Company will further enhance its thrust on sustainability by reducing its carbon footprint and using newer technologies for waste recycling. The company is envisioned to move further into a sustainable future, taking full care of social and environmental causes without sacrificing profitability.
