Sebastien Blanc Becomes CEO Of Carbon Leader Normative

Normative, a leading carbon accounting platform that helps companies measure and manage their carbon footprint, has announced the appointment of Sebastien Blanc as its new CEO. The company has been a leader in enabling businesses to track and act on their environmental impact since its founding in 2014.

Blanc replaces Kristian Rönn, who founded Normative from its earliest days. Rönn co-founded the company some 11 years ago and grew it from an idea into an industry leader in carbon accounting. About his experience, Rönn, who posted a message announcing his exit on social media, described his experience as the “baby” of the company for nearly 11 years. Watching it grow from a simple idea into a company that can truly stand on its own has been the privilege of a lifetime,” he wrote. He further highlighted the company’s groundbreaking achievements, noting, “We have pioneered SaaS-based Carbon Accounting and shown the world that making carbon visible—and actionable—is possible. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved.”

Under Rönn, Normative became the trusted partner for companies to understand and reduce their carbon footprint. The platform maps the business activities of a company and offers actionable insights into their carbon footprint and helps them embrace sustainability. In doing so, Normative has helped thousands of organizations to bring their operations in line with global climate goals.

Blanc takes the helm of the company at a thrilling moment in its evolution. With over two decades in the tech industry, he brings depth and a proven track record in scaling businesses. He was CEO of Skimlinks, a UK-based commerce content platform, where he led the company through nearly three years of growth before its acquisition by Taboola. Blanc has also headed London-based e-commerce firm Lengow and held board positions in several tech companies, which further forges his leadership credentials as a dynamic leader in the digital and tech domains.

Commenting on the new challenge, Blanc stated, “I am excited to join Normative at this exciting stage of growth.”. I believe that climate is the most important problem of our time.” He emphasized his commitment to leveraging Normative’s potential to drive meaningful change, saying, “My goal is to spend all my energy helping to build a company that will endure in the long run, building the most compelling products and customer experience so that, ultimately, we build the data we need to make a dent in the climate challenge we all face.”

Blanc’s appointment is at a time when businesses around the world are placing more emphasis on sustainability and looking for effective tools to measure and mitigate their environmental footprint. As efforts to fight climate change continue to grow, the need for such dependable, data-driven solutions as offered by Normative’s platform has never been greater. As companies grapple with complex supply chains and diverse operational footprints, Normative’s ability to translate business activities into actionable carbon insights has proven invaluable.

Rönn’s decision to pass the torch to Blanc reflects the readiness of the company to enter its next phase of growth and innovation. While stepping away from the CEO position, Rönn remains deeply invested in Normative’s mission and legacy. His leadership has laid a strong foundation for the company’s future, earning Normative a reputation as a trailblazer in the carbon accounting space.

Blanc’s vision perfectly fits Normative’s core values: technological innovation with an energetic commitment to fighting climate change. He, during his experience, has led some of the most high-growth tech companies, and that is going to play a very significant role in the ability of Normative to scale its operations and expand its reach and increase impact on the global sustainability effort.

As Blanc takes the helm, the stage is set for Normative further to cement its position as a leader in the carbon accounting industry. The transition is not just a change in leadership but rather another step in the company’s mission towards empowering businesses with the tools and the knowledge to make a measureable difference in the fight against climate change.
