Slight Improvement in Pollution, but Air Quality Still Poor
Delhi’s air continues to remain toxic. On Tuesday morning, the city recorded an AQI of 292. Light smog was visible around areas.
The air quality of Delhi was in "poor” category on Tuesday. Several areas in Delhi were covered in a thin layer of pollution that lowered the visibility. At 8 am Delhi’s air quality index was 292, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. It is said that the quality of air has slightly improved.
The level of pollution was even worse in Akshardham with AQI 319. Same situation was also reported in Ghazipur and Anand Vihar. Many other locations also showed very poor air quality, including Ashok Vihar with AQI 305, 342 in Bawana, 319 in Anand Vihar, 333 in Chandni Chowk and 314 in Dwarka. These numbers show that pollution levels remain high across the city.
On Monday morning, Delhi's air quality got worse due to dense fog and low visibility. At the same time, a thin layer of smog was also seen in the sky. Due to which the visibility was low. Many people were seen wearing masks. The patients were also suffering from breathing problems. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 314. This is an extremely poor category of air.
Talking about the NCR’s region, Noida had the worst air quality. The AQI here was recorded at 330, which is in the very poor category. Whereas in Ghaziabad the AQI was recorded at 309, 302 in Greater Noida and 278 in Gurugram. Also, Faridabad had the cleanest air compared to these areas, but it was still not good, the AQI there was 203. This is the bad category of air.
According to the Decision Support System for Delhi’s air Quality, the pollution from vehicle is contributed the most around 17.58 per cent. Pollution from residential areas was 4.29%, construction activities caused 2.49% and industries around Delhi added 8.42%. According to the CPCB, the wind speed on Monday was 20 kmph blowing from the northwest direction.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has predicted that the air quality will continue to remain in the 'very poor' category. Due to this patient are facing severe health problems such as breathing problems and irritation in the eyes. Several areas in the state recorded 'severe' and 'very poor' air quality.
