Sumadhura Group has inaugurated a 1.4-kilometre sustainable urban roadway in East Bengaluru, designed to improve mobility, safety, and environmental resilience for over 5,000 local families.
Sumadhura Group, a leading real estate developer based in South India, inaugurated a new 1.4 km sustainable urban road in East Bengaluru. The road project is located on Doddabbanahalli road off Whitefield-Hoskote main road, and was undertaken as a corporate environmental responsibility initiative and is expected to benefit over 5,000 families living in the area.
The new road replaces an unmade and narrow stretch of road by creating a new two-way modern carriageway to support better commuting experience for residents daily. The official opening event was attended by local representatives including Smt Manjula Limbavali a serving MLA of Mahadevapura and Shri Aravind Limbavali as a former MLA to provide their support to the community.
An important aspect of the new urban corridor is environmental sustainability. The new road includes rainwater recharge pits that aim to enable excess rain water that is not absorbed into the ground to recharge groundwater levels as well the excess rain run-off will be directed into recharge trenches nearby. This will help with urban flooding and the surrounding ecosystem.
In addition to its positive impact on the environment, the project addresses significant infrastructure needs. Infrastructure that includes a state-of-the-art drainage system, modern stormwater management systems, and future street lighting. These upgrades are focused on improving safety and accessibility for both pedestrians and drivers and to alleviate safety and travel conditions experienced along the route before recent upgrades
The design also addresses the community and aesthetics. The roadway, among other infrastructural changes, now has green belts with avenue planting, pedestrian seating areas with benches, and separate waste bins. Binousing walls painted fresh along the corridor provide a cleaner, more brightly developed urban environment. The Sumadhura Group has committed to consistent roadway maintenance as well.
Madhusudhan G, Chairman and Managing Director of Sumadhura Group, said the initiative represents the company's effort towards community needs and sustainability. He said that the Sumadhura Group has been part of Whitefield prominent development for 20 years, implying that the roadway provides a sustainable and community first methodology to urban development in Bengaluru.
This infrastructure initiative is one step toward developing East Bengaluru into an improved livable urban, accessible thriving, environmentally conscious community.
