World Rhino Day: “Our planet’s most iconic species”: PM

On World Rhino Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled his visit to Kaziranga National Park in Assam and urged citizens to visit the park, which is home to a significant population of one-horned rhinos in India.

World Rhino Day, observed annually on September 22, highlights global efforts to protect rhinos and raise awareness about the fight against poaching.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to rhino conservation on this occasion.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Today, on World Rhino Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting one of the planet’s most iconic species—rhinos. Compliments to all those involved in rhino conservation efforts over the years.

It is a matter of immense pride that India is home to a large number of one-horned rhinos. I fondly recall my visit to Kaziranga in Assam and urge you all to visit as well.”
