DBS Foundation Announces 2025 Grants for Social Enterprises Across Asia

The DBS Foundation has announced grants worth INR 34.40 crore (SGD 4.9 million) for its 2025 cohort, supporting 22 social enterprises and SMEs across key Asian markets. Among the selected recipients, three impact-driven enterprises from India—Ikure Techsoft, Lernern, and Kadam Haat Basketry—have been recognized for their innovative solutions addressing critical socio-economic challenges.

This marks the 11th edition of the DBS Foundation grant programme, launched in 2015 to empower purpose-led businesses working toward scalable and sustainable impact. Each grantee is eligible for funding of up to INR 1.75 crore (SGD 250,000), along with access to mentorship, capacity-building initiatives, and banking support through the DBS ecosystem.

Focus on Inclusive Growth and Innovation

The 2025 cohort places strong emphasis on improving healthcare access and income generation opportunities, particularly for underserved communities. Many selected enterprises are leveraging technology, artificial intelligence, gaming, circular economy models, and community-based solutions to amplify their impact.

The selection process was highly competitive, with over 2,100 applications evaluated by 415 DBS employee volunteers, including senior leadership members who participated as grant assessors.

Indian Enterprises Driving Impact

The three Indian grantees are making notable contributions across key development areas:

  • Ikure Techsoft: Expands access to primary healthcare through digital health centres in rural regions, supported by trained community health workers.
  • Lernern: Enhances youth employability by offering skills training, apprenticeships, and work-integrated learning opportunities.
  • Kadam Haat Basketry: Empowers rural artisans by connecting them to ethical markets, promoting sustainable livelihoods and preserving traditional crafts.

Leadership Perspectives

Karen Ngui, Head of DBS Foundation, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in uncertain times, stating that supporting vulnerable communities requires a whole-of-society approach, with businesses playing a key role alongside public and community partners.

Gaurav Rajput, Managing Director and Head of Group Marketing and Communications at DBS Bank India, highlighted that the selected Indian enterprises reflect the power of purpose-driven innovation in addressing pressing developmental needs such as healthcare access, employability, and sustainable livelihoods.

Expanding Impact Across Asia

Since its inception, DBS Foundation has supported over 180 social enterprises through its grants and the Impact Beyond Award, which offers up to SGD 1 million per recipient.

In 2024, DBS Foundation and DBS Bank committed SGD 1 billion toward funding social impact initiatives. The Foundation also aims to contribute 1.5 million volunteer hours over a decade.

As of 2025, DBS Foundation has committed more than SGD 160 million to support 48 enterprises and 29 impact programmes, with a target to positively impact 8 million lives by 2029.

Driving Sustainable Change

Through its continued investments and ecosystem support, DBS Foundation is reinforcing its mission to enable sustainable and scalable change, backing enterprises that improve the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable populations across Asia.
