Delhi Partners with SOS India to Support 350 Children Through Kinship Care

The Department of Women and Child Development for the Government of NCT of Delhi has entered a five-time cooperation with SOS Children's Towns India to strengthen care and protection for 350 children in the megacity. The collaboration will see the common perpetration of the government's Sponsorship Scheme through SOS India's Kinship Care Programme, fastening on children without maternal care.

A Memorandum of Understanding was formally inked by Mitali Namchoom, IAS, Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, and Sumanta Kar, CEO of SOS Children's Towns India, at a forum in New Delhi. Elderly officers from both organisations attended the event.

The primary thing of this cooperation is to work SOS India's moxie in family-grounded care to enhance the impact of the government's being scheme. Rather than institutional care, the Kinship Care model places children with extended family members or close family musketeers, icing they grow up in a familiar and probative family terrain. The action aims to empower caregivers and secure each child's emotional, physical, and educational development, helping them come confident and tone-reliant grown-ups.

Mitali Namchoom reflected on the cooperation, stating that the true measure of a society is how it cares for its most vulnerable members. She emphasised that the programme is designed to support children not just materially, but also by conserving their family bonds, artistic identity, and emotional well-being, contributing to a stronger and further compassionate Delhi.

Sumanta Kar of SOS Children's Towns India added that the organisation forcefully believes a child's stylish interests are served within a loving family. He noted that the cooperation reaffirms a collaborative commitment to insure every child has the occasion to thrive. Through the programme, they will work directly with families to make their capacity and give psychosocial and educational support so that children can truly flourish.

Crucial aspects of the cooperation include supporting 350 children across Delhi under the Kinship Care Programme for five times. The focus will be on essential areas of development, including care and protection, education, health and nutrition, emotional well-being, and social addition. Both organisations will also conduct regular training for caregivers and take over common assessments to cover the progress of each child.

SOS Children's Towns India, established in 1964, is one of the country's largest tone-enforcing non-profit organisations concentrated on childcare. It operates a value chain of care services, including Family Like Care, Kinship Care, and Foster Care, across 22 countries and union homes. The organisation presently cares for over 6,500 children in its townlets and appreciatively impacts knockouts of thousands of lives annually.

This cooperation represents a significant step by the Delhi government to strengthen its indispensable care structure by integrating the specialised knowledge of an established childcare NGO, aiming to give a more stable and nurturing parenting for vulnerable children in the capital.
