The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds until July 9, while advising residents to take necessary precautions.
Delhi is likely to see more rain in the upcoming days as yellow alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). According to weather forecast thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by heavy rain and gusty winds will persist until July 9 and will provide respite from the scorching and humid weather conditions.
The change in weather pattern has followed a few days during which Delhi faced an uncomfortable climate with high humidity levels. Rains have started in many areas of the city, resulting in lower temperatures and better weather. However, people have been advised to be careful since thunderstorms and windy weather may pose some problems.
Residents have been cautioned against standing under the trees during thunderstorms, but instead, they should also keep any loose outdoors items secure and read the weather forecast before travelling. Commuters are advised to be cautious while driving because of the possibility of heavy rains.
The yellow warning has been issued for the city which means that citizens are supposed to be careful about weather changes. Although there will not be any emergency situation, rain and thunderstorms may go on for a few more days in Delhi-NCR.
Some areas of Delhi have already experienced rain, resulting in a reduction in temperature and making the weather more comfortable. The IMD, however, has issued an advisory warning about lightning, heavy winds, which may cause some temporary inconveniences such as water logging, traffic and poor road visibility.
