Schneider Again Leads 2025 Global Sustainability Rankings: Corporate Knights
Corporate Knights, an independent sustainability research organization, Monday announced its "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations" ranking for 2025 at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
The rankings are based on environmental and ethical performance metrics, such as carbon emissions, water use, investments in sustainable programs, and pay and gender equality.
Top Companies on the List
Schneider Electric SE is one of the French multinational energy management companies. It ranks at number one in 2025. Sims Ltd of Denmark ranks at number two. On the other hand, Vestas Wind Systems A/S ranks at number three. Brambles Ltd and Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. have ranked at the last position of the list of top five.
Regional Highlights
The European companies top this list for this year, except a couple of the French and Danish companies that appear here. For the reason that the Australian companies do feature in these lists too, they are documented outside the jurisdiction of the European Union in this fashion.

Sustainability Investments
Global 100 companies are the forerunners in sustainable investments. In 2023, the organizations spent 58 percent of their capital expenditure and research and development budget on green activities like renewable energy strategies and sustainable products. This is a massive four times higher than investments by bigger companies worldwide.

Performance Trends
Despite the growth, the Global 100 companies have several setbacks in the year 2024. This is observed in the form of slower growth of sustainable revenues as compared to the MSCI ACWI index that had been their recent performance indicator. High interest rates, low presence of U.S. firms, and exclusion of weapons-related stocks have been some of the reasons for the same. However, MSCI ACWI index has emerged very strong in 2024. Two major performing US-based companies are Nvidia and Meta.
Global 100 companies are likely to have a very good year in 2025 as the rebound is likely to happen with great vigor due to these temporary issues of high interest rates passing off from the next year.
