IWTMA and CEEW Join Hands to Boost India’s Wind Manufacturing
IWTMA and CEEW have signed an MoU to support wind-energy manufacturing, exports, and faster deployment as India works toward doubling capacity to 100 GW by 2030.
The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) to collaborate on building India’s wind energy manufacturing and exports ecosystem. The move comes as India aims to double its installed wind capacity to 100 GW by 2030.
The partnership seeks to develop strategies that strengthen domestic wind turbine and component manufacturing and support large-scale deployment of both on-shore and off-shore wind projects. The collaboration will draw on IWTMA’s industry experience and CEEW’s policy research capabilities to bring together key stakeholders and plan for wind’s role in India’s power transition.
Aditya Pyasi, CEO of IWTMA, said the agreement is intended to support large-scale wind deployment and domestic manufacturing while creating new employment opportunities. He added that the effort aims to enhance India’s energy security and expand the country’s presence in global wind technology markets.
Shalu Agrawal, Director – Programmes at CEEW, said the collaboration will focus on developing evidence on the value of wind in India’s power system, along with its relevance to trade and manufacturing. She noted that wind energy will play a significant role in supporting India’s growing electricity demand and strengthening the country’s energy mix.
According to IWTMA, a stronger wind manufacturing base may help position India as a global hub for turbine and component production, aligning with national goals for domestic industry development under the “Make in India” initiative.
