Kazam Opens Free Seven-Day Integration Programme for EV Charging Operators

Kazam has launched a free seven-day programme to help eligible electric vehicle (EV) charging operators connect their networks to Unified Bharat e-Charge (UBC), an interoperability platform being developed for India's EV charging ecosystem.

The programme, starting on 14 July, will allow eligible Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to integrate their existing charging networks with UBC without paying an initial integration fee.

Unified Bharat e-Charge is being developed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The platform aims to enable EV users to locate charging stations, check live availability, compare tariffs, reserve chargers where available, and make payments across participating charging networks through compatible applications.

The initiative comes as India's EV charging sector continues to expand, with users often relying on multiple applications to access different charging networks.

Under the programme, Kazam will connect CPOs through its Beckn Provider Platform (BPP), allowing operators to continue using their existing charger management systems, customer applications and pricing models. The company said operators with Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI)-compatible systems can complete integration, testing, and certification within seven days.

Akshay Shekhar, co-founder and chief executive officer of Kazam, said the programme is intended to lower the barriers for charging operators joining the interoperable network. He said Kazam would provide the provider-side infrastructure required for integration, enabling operators to connect without replacing their existing systems.

According to the company, Kazam already supports interoperable charging transactions on the UBC network and has integrated with BHIM.

Eligible operators will receive technical assistance during onboarding, including network assessment, OCPI integration, protocol enablement, sandbox testing, and transaction validation.

After joining the network, charging operators will be able to make their stations available across compatible EV charging applications while continuing to manage their charging assets, pricing and customer relationships. The platform also supports the exchange of charger availability, tariff details, charging session information, and billing and settlement data between participating networks.

The programme will remain open for seven days from 14 July, and interested charging operators can apply for a technical assessment before integration.
