Loom Solar Partners with University to Develop Renewable Energy Workforce

In an effort to tackle the increasing requirement for skilled professionals in India's renewable sector, Loom Solar has entered into a strategic partnership with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV). The formal agreement, executed in the form of a Letter of Intent, aims to establish a link between academic theory and industry practice by co-developing various specialised training courses.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is a Central University, instituted by the Ministry of Railways, and primarily focused on creating graduates for specifications in the infrastructure and transport sectors. In order to establish an increased talent pipeline for the nation's clean energy and infrastructure development, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is teaming with Loom Solar, one of the leading manufacturers of solar technology in India.

This partnership will develop curriculum that will have students learning practical, future-ready skills in several approaches within the curriculum development process. One of the major topics will be curriculum development, where Loom Solar's industry experience will assist in building case studies and components with GSV. The academic modules will focus on providing students with workforce-ready skills, relevant to the opportunities and challenges presented in the renewable energy sector.

In addition to the classroom experience, the partnership supports a student training model that utilizes guest lectures, workshops, and experiential opportunities with industry practitioners at Loom Solar. The goal is to give students a degree of live exposure to the implementation of technology and applications related to solar energy to encourage a better technical understanding of evidence-based technology adoption.

A significant aspect of the model is to offer internships and/or live project work. GSV students will have the opportunity to engage with Loom Solar and help them practice and implement their learning in student-identified organizations. By providing these opportunities for students, the hope is to optimize student employability and create impact at the graduate's first employment engagement.

The GSVLoom partnership also embraces the larger national vision in support of a developed India, Viksit Bharat 2047. By establishing the ecosystem in India through the partnerships, the goal is to accelerate India's transition towards clean energy and sustainable industrial development. Further, as India develops, the necessity of a well-skilled and adaptable workforce will help fuel continuing economic development.

Both Loom Solar and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya have expressed their dedication to continuing to explore other areas of mutual interest to strengthen continuums of innovation and research in India's expanding renewable energy and infrastructure sector, while remaining adapted to the needs and expectations of the sector moving forward.

This partnership between industry and academia demonstrates a mutual understanding that a skilled workforce is foundational to India's transition to renewable energy. By creating and investing in a program that aligns relevant education with industry outcomes, this partnership intends to build a new group of engineers and professionals ready to employ their knowledge and abilities responsibly and productively to benefit India's sustainable path forward.
