In a significant stride towards sustainable fashion, Spanish apparel giant Mango has partnered with Swedish material innovator Renewcell to incorporate Circulose®—a next-generation fibre derived from 100% recycled cotton-rich textiles—into its production process. This collaboration marks Mango as the first brand globally to adopt Circulose® fibres since Renewcell’s relaunch, reinforcing its position as a leader in responsible fashion and accelerating its journey towards a circular, low-impact business model.

The partnership is a defining moment in Mango’s broader 2030 sustainability roadmap, which seeks to decarbonize the brand’s entire value chain, scale circular design methodologies, and ensure that all fibres used in its collections have a lower environmental footprint. The adoption of Circulose® supports Mango’s pledge to phase out virgin raw materials and replace them with innovative, recycled alternatives that align with the principles of a closed-loop production system.

Circulose® is a unique dissolving pulp made entirely from discarded textiles—particularly cotton-rich fabrics. Instead of sourcing virgin wood pulp or conventional cotton, Circulose® enables the production of regenerated fibres like viscose, lyocell, modal, and acetate from waste material. These regenerated fibres can then be used to create high-quality new garments, giving old textiles a second life and reducing dependence on resource-intensive raw materials.

For Renewcell, Mango’s involvement is not just a business collaboration, but a vital step toward achieving scalable circularity in the fashion industry. Among these are its circular denim collection, the Re-Viste take-back programme in Spain—which encourages customers to return used garments for recycling—and a growing portfolio of garments crafted from regenerative agriculture cotton and fibre blends made from seaweed and other innovative sources.

The integration of Circulose® also supports broader systemic change within the fashion industry by tackling two critical issues: textile waste and virgin material consumption. Global fashion production continues to rely heavily on new resources, while millions of tonnes of used clothing are discarded annually.
