Namyaa and Vyomini Foundation Host Menstrual Health Workshop in Delhi
Namyaa partners with Vyomini Social Foundation to conduct a menstrual health workshop for over 100 underprivileged women in Delhi.
The Indian feminine care company has teamed up with the Vyomini Social Foundation to offer educational workshops about menstrual health and hygiene. This session was offered to women from rural and lower income areas of Delhi, with over 100 women participating.
Through the workshop, participants learned the basic principles of bettering their menstrual health and maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation, including dispelling myths associated with menstruation and ultimately providing women with the education they need for a healthier period experience. This program was developed to educate women about menstruation and empower them to discuss this typically taboo topic openly.
Participants also received Namyaa hygiene kits that contained a reusable menstrual cup, intimate wash, and hair removal products. These products provided women with access to safe, healthy, and sustainable personal care products while giving them the knowledge to make informed decisions about their bodies.
This collaboration between Namyaa and the Vyomini Social Foundation reflects a shared mission to promote open conversations about menstruation. Both organisations advocate for menstrual health to be viewed as a basic right of every woman, and therefore treated as equal to all other health-related issues.
Namyaa is focused on promoting women's wellness through community-based projects, and offers an extensive range of plant-based personal care products that support environmentally sound menstrual practices while providing women with holistic comfort.
The Vyomini Social Foundation, a non-profit organization operating across India (with a primary focus on women's health and entrepreneurship), has conducted thousands of workshops to raise awareness about menstruation and educate millions of women about menstrual health. In addition, the Foundation supports the creation of women entrepreneurs within local communities.
By hosting this workshop in Delhi, the Vyomini Social Foundation has taken the first step toward bridging the gap in information and education available to women at the grass-roots level, providing them with crucial information they might not have been able to access previously. The workshop created an environment where women felt respected and safe to openly discuss menstruation and learn from each other.
The workshop also sends a strong message that menstrual dignity is an important aspect of a woman's self-respect and the way she takes care of herself. This initiative combines education with access to products, and therefore addresses both the awareness of menstrual health issues and the need for menstrual products and supplies, as well as the importance of ongoing outreach efforts to underserved communities.
Community engagement is an integral part of both organisations' business models. The two organisations work together to promote behaviour change by providing women with personal support through one-on-one interactions and providing them with access to resources. The Delhi workshop is the beginning of a much larger change in how society looks at issues related to menstrual health.
