SEPC FY25 Report Underscores ESG Practices, Inclusive Growth
Chennai-based SEPC has presented its strong belief in responsible engineering and sustainable infrastructure. According to the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) FY 2024–25, the company remains engaged in water infrastructure, power, metallurgy, and thermal power plants, and infuses sustainability, transparency, and governance within its operations.

The company aligns with all nine NGRBC principles, and the Board has also approved policies which cover ethics, environment, employee welfare, and inclusive growth. SEPC emphasises health, safety, equal opportunity, and sustainability in project execution, backed by third-party audits.

Employee & Social Impact
SEPC employs 245 people, including 10.2% women, and 333 workers, all covered under health and accident insurance, provident fund, gratuity, and other benefits as per government rules. All 100% female employees are provided maternity benefits, and return-to-work and retention rates post-parental leave stood at 100%. Training covered over 90% of employees on ESG, safety, waste management, and emissions. Importantly, zero safety incidents or fatalities were reported.

In Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), SPEC is engaged in equitable job creation, with over 35% of wages going to metropolitan workers, 28% to urban, 25% to semi-urban, and 11% to rural employees, ensuring balanced development.

Environmental Performance of the Company
Energy: 69,42,632 MJ consumed (all non-renewable); energy intensity 0.0012 MJ/₹ turnover
Water: Withdrawal and discharge were not significant due to the EPC business nature
Green House Gas (GHG): Scope 1 and 2 emissions reported as negligible; no projects yet on GHG reduction
Waste: No hazardous, e-waste, or biomedical waste generated; EPC operations minimise direct waste creation.
Air Emissions: Not material, as EPC projects do not generate process emissions

Supply Chain
100% of procurement is from India, with a strong focus on ethical sourcing. MSME/local sourcing disclosures emphasise reliance on domestic suppliers.

Future Strategy
This company continues to stress engineering excellence with sustainability embedded at its core. Their management would like to stress that the incorporation of ESG practices in the water, energy, and industrial projects is more of an opportunity than a responsibility in creating inclusion for these climate and resource challenges.
