ABB Ranks 14th In TIME’s Sustainability List 2025

ABB has reaffirmed its world leadership in sustainability by featuring among the top 15 best in TIME Magazine's "World's Most Sustainable Companies 2025." The recognition, jointly researched by TIME and data platform Statista, is a testament of ABB's solid commitment to integrating sustainability into every element of operations and strategy. 14th worldwide and third in all industry categories in Switzerland, ABB's performance in sustainability positions it among the most responsible companies in the world for corporate social and environmental issues.

TIME and Statista's assessment procedure was a clear and open four-stage procedure. More than 5,000 of the world's most identified companies were scored according to their revenues, market capitalizations, and public visibility. From this universe of companies, the top 500 corporations across 35 countries and 21 industries were shortlisted. The final shortlisting was based on evaluating over 20 critical performance indicators like conduct in business for sustainability, commitments and external ratings for sustainability, compliance with reporting code, disclosure transparency, and social and environmental stewardship. ABB registered a very high sustainability score of 81.92 out of a possible 100-underscoring the reproducibility and excellent performance of the company across these areas.

Anke Hampel, ABB Group Head of Sustainability, highlighted that ABB's high position is an endorsement of its continuous strategic focus of integrating sustainability into its business model. Being listed among the world's top 15 Most Sustainable Companies 2025 is proof of ABB's method of integrating sustainability into business in an open and transparent way," Hampel explained. "Our Sustainability Agenda is created to make a low-carbon society possible, protect resources and trigger social progress toward a net-zero future.".

With its position as a world leader in electrification and automation, ABB is instrumental in driving the world towards low-carbon and resource-efficient industries. With its capability, the company empowers its customers to maximize energy efficiency, minimize carbon footprints, and construct more resilient infrastructure—all with maximum performance. By its drive "Engineered to Outrun," ABB combines engineering excellence and digital technology to enable industries to excel as sustainable, efficient, and productive businesses.

One of the most important components of ABB's sustainability approach is also strong climate goals that have been recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The business is set to lower Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2050 in these scopes with a base year of 2019. Up to this point, in 2024, ABB has already posted a decrease of 78% in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019. The company also posted significant improvement in lowering its Scope 3 emissions—by 8% compared to last year in 2024.

These achievements also show that ABB is generally committed to environmental responsibility and transparency. ABB had a seat on the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) annual 'A List' in April 2025, which identifies companies that have shown exceptional leadership on climate performance and transparency. The CDP is a globally respected non-profit organization operating a highly valued environmental disclosure system. Additionally, ABB's ESG performance was endorsed in May 2025 as the company was awarded a top-rated AAA level ranking in MSCI ESG Ratings analysis—a standard that ranks firms according to their ability to manage long-term environment, social, and governance risk.

With its history as a corporation of over 140 years and a global workforce of approximately 110,000 employees, ABB continues to show that sustainability, performance, and innovation can be harmonized. ABB's shares are listed on SIX Swiss Exchange under the ticker symbol ABBN and Nasdaq Stockholm under ticker symbol ABB.

This fresh acknowledgement by TIME and Statista is another step on ABB's journey towards a more sustainable and inclusive industrial future. Not only does it validate the company's direction of strategy but it also further solidifies its position in the world as a responsible, technology-leading player.
