Adani Green Hits 15,500 MW, Powers 8 Mn Homes

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), on Monday, said that it has achieved a major milestone by crossing 15,500 megawatts (MW) of clean energy capacity. This is the biggest and fastest renewable energy growth India has ever seen, and AGEL is the first company in the country to reach this level. With this, the company now generates enough clean electricity to power nearly 8 million homes across 13 Indian states.

The total energy generated using a combination of sources and they are solar power, about 11,000 MW, nearly 2,000 MW from wind power, and over 2,500 MW from a combination of wind and solar. This green energy not only powers homes but also protects the environment. Every year, AGEL’s energy prevents around 28.6 million tonnes of harmful carbon emissions which is equal to taking about 6.3 million cars off the road or planting over 1.3 billion trees. It’s a big achievement for both people and the planet.

As AGEL has completed 10 years of delivering clean and affordable energy, they have also achieved impressive figures. The company have installed over 55 million solar panels, more than 1,100 wind turbines, and creating 3,700 green jobs in the process.

One of the most exciting parts of AGEL’s journey is happening in Khavda, a desert area in Kutch, Gujarat. There, they are building the world’s largest renewable energy plant of 30,000 MW on the barren waste land. Spanning 538 square kilometres, which is 5 times the size of Paris and surprisingly it is even visible from space. So far, 5,355 MW of energy is already working at the site. Once the project will be finished, it will be the biggest power plant of any kind in the world, showing AGEL’s strong push toward India’s goal of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

AGEL is not only producing clean energy like solar and wind power, but they are also making sure the environment is not harmed. Their operations are certified as water positive, which means they save more water than they use. The company is also ranked #1 in India’s stock exchange for its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and is recognised globally for its sustainable efforts.

Looking ahead, AGEL is aiming even higher. They plan to grow from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by the year 2030, proving that clean energy can be delivered at incredible scale and speed. As the world looks for climate-friendly solutions, Adani Green Energy is showing that India is ready to lead the way.
