APEDA Opens New Offices in Patna, Raipur, Dehradun to Empower Agri Exporters

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has announced the launch of three new regional offices in Patna, Raipur, and Dehradun, signalling a major push to support India’s agri exporters from underserved regions. The expansion aims to deliver hands-on export assistance, certification, and market linkage support to farmers, FPOs, small processors, and state agricultural agencies as India looks to meet ambitious agri-export targets.

APEDA officials stated that the new outposts were selected based on a combination of rising export potential and local demand for greater handholding—enabling more producers to access premium markets, comply with food safety rules, and add value in processing and logistics. Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand are all major sources of rice, fruits, vegetables, and organic specialties but have historically been under-represented in India’s export basket.

Exporters in these regions will now benefit from easier certification (such as GI tagging, organic, or residue-free standards), on-site guidance for global documentation, participation in export training, and rapid troubleshooting of trade barriers. The move also aligns with India’s broader strategy to boost farm incomes, promote food processing clusters, and foster international trade partnerships beyond the traditional western and southern export hubs.

APEDA’s expansion is expected to raise agri-export volumes and diversify India’s global product mix. Local officials welcomed the move as timely, with state-level initiatives now better integrated into the national export mission.
