BHEL Secures Contract for Boiler Package at Raghunathpur Thermal Power Plant

BHEL Wins Large Order for Steam Generator Package for Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India's leading engineering and manufacturing firm, has won a massive order for erection of the steam generator (boiler) island package for the 2x660 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station (TPS) Phase-II in West Bengal's Purulia district. The order has been won by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) under international competitive bidding (ICB).

The scope of the project covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the steam generator island package. This also involves all the attendant auxiliaries, electrical, civil, and structural construction. BHEL will also provide highly efficient emission control equipment, consistent with the growing emphasis on environmental sustainability in power generation.

DVC's Raghunathpur TPS Phase-II project is one of those measures that serve to contribute toward consolidating the power generation capacity of the area. BHEL has already executed the turbine and generator package of the same supercritical project setting up once more at the power development process of the strategic plant. Successful achievement of the same would go a great way towards mitigating the expanding energy needs of the region.

BHEL boasts an excellent track record of successful affiliation with DVC. BHEL has commissioned over 75% of DVC's coal-based power generation in India. BHEL's long-standing affiliation is testimony enough to the company's prowess and commitment towards energizing India's power industry.

Earlier in the year, BHEL had also received another order from ICB for the 2x800 MW Koderma supercritical thermal power project on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis. Such orders are a testimonial to the consistent performance of BHEL and its ability to win large projects in the competitive global market.

Conclusion:BHEL remains India's power sector industry leader by commissioning more than 1,70,000 MW of utility power capacity within the nation. Through its robust power generation and transmission project portfolio, BHEL is still the market leader in contributing to India's energy security. BHEL's involvement in such gargantuan schemes is in consonance with the country's vision of self-reliance in the power sector and guarantees the country an energy-efficient and sustainable future. The Raghunathpur project will definitely increase the power supply of the region, drive industrial development and increased availability of power. BHEL's involvement in such projects helps it to achieve the goal of enabling India to transition to energy through efficient and reliable power generation solutions.
