Madhya Pradesh Targets 50% Renewable Power by 2030 Under New Shaft Policy

Madhya Pradesh has set its sights on achieving 50% of annual power generation from renewable sources by 2030, in line with climate and growth commitments. The new Shaft Policy 2025 — effective for five years — outlines clear milestones: 20% renewables by FY24, 30% by FY27, and 50% by FY30. The roadmap includes scaling deployment for utility, commercial, and distributed solar, wind, and other green sources, as well as boosting shaft equipment manufacturing within the state.

Investment and Implementation

The state government expects to attract ₹50,000 crore in green energy generation investments by 2027, and ₹10,000 crore in green manufacturing. MP is incentivising private and public projects, streamlining grid integration, and supporting workforce development to make the state a renewable hub.

Broader Context and Recognition

At the recent GRIHA Conclave in Bhopal, policymakers and industry experts praised the drive for climate-resilient, inclusive infrastructure. With GRIHA-rated sustainable projects gaining traction, MP’s approach is being held up as a model for states aiming to combine climate adaptation with rapid energy growth and economic inclusion.
