Nat Habit Cuts 48 Tonnes of Plastic in Sustainability Report

Nat Habit, a beauty and wellness brands rooted in Ayurvedic formulations, has released its inaugural Sustainability Impact Report. The report highlights the brand’s environmental interventions over the past 24 months and its commitment to making clean beauty responsible by scaling consciously while minimising environmental impact.

Sustainability Strategy and Packaging Changes

According to the report, Nat Habit has adopted a sustainability strategy focused on reducing plastic dependency, improving material circularity, and maintaining zero operational pollution across its production processes. The report mentions that the brand is shifted from plastic bubble wrap to paper-based protective packaging and replaced virgin PET with rPET bottles for high-volume product lines like shampoos and hair oils. These are now packed in recycled PET bottles.

Zero-Pollution Manufacturing Practices

Nat Habit’s report also says that it follows cold-processed, kitchen-style methods that avoids combustion or any heavy emission. There is zero water pollution because all formulations use natural and biodegradable ingredients which ensures no water contamination, and no chemicals enter the water. The company also claims that small-batch production reduces water and resource waste by more than 50%.

Key Findings from the Impact Report

The brand shared that it uses about 115 tonnes of plastic annually in its packaging, including 66 tonnes of PET materials. By switching to recycled PET, it was able to avoid 48 tonnes of virgin plastic. According to the report, 72% of PET bottles are now made using rPET, and 35 tonnes of plastic bubble wrap were eliminated by switching to paper-based packaging. Overall, 41% of plastic used in packaging is now recycled.

Leadership Statement

Swagatika Das, CEO and Co-founder of Nat Habit, said the long-term value of sustainability goes beyond numbers, adding that the goal is to create a beauty ecosystem where every Nat Habit ritual gives more than it takes. She stated that the report demonstrates the ability to scale responsibly and raise the bar for what clean beauty means.

Future Sustainability Plans

Nat Habit is plans to use more recycled materials in its packaging, introduce compostable alternatives for sachets, pouches and labels, expand biodegradable shipping materials, and develop systems that help its packaging be reused or recycled at the end of its life.

Brand Identity Update

The release of the report follows the launch of Nat Habit’s new brand identity, “Breathe Life,” a shift from Fresh Ayurveda. The new identity reinforces the brand’s focus on beauty that is potent, nurturing and planet-positive, merging Ayurvedic rituals with scientific efficacy and sustainable packaging practices.
