FACT Reports Lower Scope 2 Emissions, Higher Renewable Energy Use: BRSR Report

The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT), Kochi, Kerala-headquartered company, has released its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for FY 2024–25, shows commitment to sustainability and sustainable growth.

FACT is working to make cleaner operations, reduced energy intensity, and take better care of its employee and community welfare. The company continues to serve farmers across India.

The firm has reduced its indirect emissions that is Scope 2 by 29% compared to last year and increase the usage of renewable energy. It also improved energy efficiency by switching to cleaner fuel (RLNG) and modernizing production systems. For water, FACT used 84 lakh kilolitres supported by rainwater harvesting.

The company has safely handled waste like disposal of plastic, e-waste, batteries and hazardous waste through certified recyclers. It has also reused and recycled construction waste to reduce the load.

Employees and workers are covered with 100% benefits such as full health and accident insurance, maternity and paternity benefits along with access to grievance systems. All the employees also received training on ESG, health and safety.

Through CSR initiatives, the company has supported students, women, and local communities across Kerala and beyond, with water supply, education, rural development and skill training.

Looking forward, FACT plans to increase renewable energy, cut further emissions, and support growth under ESG.

Highlights

• Energy: The company used 47.6 lakh GJ and increased renewable source.
• Water: Fact used 84.4 lakh KL of water, supported by rainwater harvesting.
• GHG Emissions: Scope 1 emission was 2.35 lakh tonnes of CO2 and Scope 2– 1.11 lakh.
• Waste: Fact generated 297 MT of waste which was safely recycled and disposed.
• Air Emissions: Emissions included 5.79 tonnes of NOx, 408 of SOx, and 177 tonnes of PM.
• Social Impact: CSR initiatives benefited thousands of people in areas like water, health, and education.
• Workforce: The company has total of 642 employees, 1,525 workers. All covered with full social security.
