CEAT Launches India’s First 90 Percent Green Tyre
CEAT introduces SecuraDrive CIRCL, India’s first passenger car tyre with up to 90% sustainable materials.
On August 25, 2025, CEAT introduced the SecuraDrive CIRCL, marking a significant step in India’s automotive industry. This is the country’s first passenger-car tyre made with up to 90 percent bio-based sustainable materials.
Developed at CEAT’s global R&D center in Halol, Gujarat, the SecuraDrive CIRCL comes in two versions: one with 50 percent bio-based content and another with 90 percent. The 50 percent model is priced at ₹8,999, while the 90 percent variant will cost ₹12,999. Both will be available starting September 2025 through CEAT’s premium retail stores and authorized dealers.
CEAT is targeting urban consumers aged 25 to 45 living in Tier-1 cities. The company aims to appeal to buyers who want eco-friendly products without sacrificing performance, safety, or style. Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of CEAT, called the SecuraDrive CIRCL “a breakthrough” that shows how India can lead in sustainable mobility. He also spoke about CEAT’s goal to become a “premium, future-ready brand,” highlighting that sustainability is now a responsibility, not just a choice.
Lakshmi Narayanan B, CEAT’s Chief Marketing Officer, said today’s consumers care more about sustainability when making purchases. She explained that the SecuraDrive CIRCL lets customers follow their values without giving up on performance, safety, or design. She described the tyre as “the perfect blend of innovation and eco-consciousness.”
The tyre features three patented innovations: a biopolymer inner liner that cuts down manufacturing emissions; a glycerol-based accelerator that replaces traditional petroleum-based chemicals; and an anti-static silica conductive solution that removes the need for conventional carbon black materials. CEAT says these advances set a new standard for sustainable mobility while maintaining road safety and performance.
The SecuraDrive CIRCL adds to CEAT’s existing range of tyre innovations, which include CALM technology, ZR-rated tyres, and Run-Flat tyres.
With this launch, CEAT is clearly aligning its vision with the eco-friendly values of younger urban buyers, especially in Tier-1 cities. By using bio-based materials at a scale never seen before in the Indian passenger-tyre market, CEAT is strengthening its reputation as an innovator and supporting a shift toward greener mobility in India.
