Celcius, Switch Mobility Sign MoU for 350 EV Reefer Truck Fleet

A tech-enabled 3PL cold supply chain solutions provider, Celcius Logistics, on Wednesday, signed an MoU with Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of Ashok Leyland, for the deployment of 350 electric reefer (eLCV) vehicles.

The agreement marks India’s largest bulk order and first large-scale deployment of eLCV-based refrigerated trucks, involving an investment of ₹100 crore for purchasing the vehicles, as well as ancillary setups such as parking, charging stations, and driver training. Celcius has already procured and deployed 100 trucks and aims to roll out the remaining 250 trucks by the end of FY26.

With this initiative, Celcius will provide India’s first Electric Light Commercial Reefer Fleet to deliver cold-chain solutions across the country.

The signing also marks the launch of ‘Celcius Green’, a fully electric refrigerated fleet for last-mile deliveries, offering comprehensive temperature-controlled logistics solutions to meet diverse product requirements. It is a vertical under Celcius Logistics established with an initial investment of ₹50 crore. Celcius Green will focus on creating a zero-emission cold logistics network in the country that uses electric mobility and data-driven systems for temperature-controlled transportation.

The 3.5-ton electric reefer trucks, developed by Switch Mobility, will be used for the transport of temperature-sensitive goods such as dairy, pharmaceuticals, fruits and vegetables, seafood, and frozen foods. Each unit can maintain temperatures between –25°C and +25°C, covering a range of cold-chain requirements.

“This MoU is an important step for India’s cold logistics sector,” said Swarup Bose, Founder & CEO, Celcius Logistics. “With Celcius Green, we’re taking a big step towards making cold logistics cleaner, smarter, and more future-ready. We are shifting cold-chain operations from diesel-based systems to electric and digital platforms. This is India’s largest EV reefer fleet deployment, and our engagement with Switch Mobility will help advance cold-chain electrification in the country. This strategic initiative marks a major milestone in our sustainability journey, aimed at transforming the cold-chain sector with energy-efficient, EV-powered fleets. This isn’t just a sustainability project — it’s the next evolution of how cold-chain logistics will operate in India. We have completed a pilot phase and already have interest from our customers to avail the service”

Ganesh Mani, CEO, Switch Mobility, said, “Our partnership with Celcius Logistics marks a key milestone in advancing electric mobility into the cold chain segment — one of the most demanding areas of logistics. This first and largest 3.5-ton EV reefer order in India showcases how sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand. The SWITCH IeV Series EV reefer is engineered for consistent cooling performance with minimal transit loss, even when the vehicle is idling, ensuring product freshness across frozen, chilled, and fresh categories. With low noise, vibration, and harshness levels, it delivers a smoother, quieter experience while maintaining product quality. Together, we are setting a new benchmark for sustainable, reliable, and cost-efficient temperature-controlled transport in India.”

Celcius Green will begin the first phase of operations in New Delhi with immediate effect, followed by Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. It targets ₹50 crore in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in the first year and ₹250 crore ARR within five years, as operations expand.

Celcius is set to invest an additional ₹100–150 crore in the near term to expand its electric reefer fleet and develop EV-ready cold-storage hubs and charging infrastructure along major logistics corridors. Each vehicle delivers an extended 140-km range, making it well-suited for both urban and peri-urban deliveries. The Celcius Green fleet features precision temperature control, GPS-based live tracking, and smart humidity and temperature sensors that provide instant alerts. Complemented by lane-specific charging stations and predictive maintenance scheduling, the fleet guarantees zero downtime, full operational transparency, and end-to-end traceability across every stage of the cold chain.
