The people of Delhi-NCR, those who came out early in the morning on Wednesday witnessed cloudy skies accompanied by some light showers. These showers brought some relief to the people of the area from the extremely hot and humid weather prevailing in the region during the month of May.

While the cool breeze along with clouds made the weather more bearable, according to the IMD, the weather in the region was still unstable.

What’s the weather like today?

The Delhi-NCR region had a wet morning for some time before the skies became sunny with warm and humid weather once again.

This short change in the weather conditions is mainly due to the Western disturbance moving across the northwestern parts of India during the pre-monsoon season. There is also a chance of isolated thunderstorms in some areas because of this system. 

With the rainy morning, the temperature will remain high throughout the day. According to IMD, the weather will remain partly cloudy for Delhi throughout the day, while there could be light showers, thunderstorm, lightning, and heavy wind at times during the late evening or night. The public should remain cautious during lightning.

Even though there will be cloudiness and occasional rainfall during the day, there would still be heat. The maximum temperature would be about 37-39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature can stay 26-28 degrees.

According to IMD, the highest temperature recorded in Delhi on Tuesday was 39°C, whereas the lowest temperature recorded was 27.6°C.

From May 15, the weather will start becoming clear, and mostly sunny weather conditions can persist until May 18. But the temperature will once again rise and could go up to 40–42°C between May 17–18.

According to IMD, there is a chance of another western disturbance hitting northwest India from May 15 onwards. Hence, after a temporary respite from scorching weather conditions, Delhi can expect some cloudy and rainy weather for a day, but then the heat will be back again.
