Desco Infratech Partners with KPI and Naveriya Gas on Hydrogen Blending Project

Desco Infratech, KPI Green Hydrogen, and Naveriya Gas sign an MoU to pioneer hydrogen-natural gas blending in India's City Gas Distribution sector, supporting cleaner energy and infrastructure.

Desco Infratech Partners with KPI and Naveriya Gas on Hydrogen Blending Project

The recent partnership of Desco Infratech Limited with KPI Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Pvt. Ltd. and Naveriya Gas Pvt. Ltd. will deliver Hydrogen-Natural Gas Blending Projects in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) space that will mark a significant milestone in the energy journey of India.

This partnership will deliver a tangible step towards the building of green infrastructure and accelerate India’s journey to a clean energy future. It will contribute towards the reduced reliance on conventional fossil fuels and ultimately support India’s energy independence aspirations which are harmonious with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat aspirations.

The project will pool the complementary capabilities of each partner to establish a well-integrated supply chain. KPI Green Hydrogen will be the producer of green hydrogen. Desco Infratech will then employ its engineering and technical capabilities to blend hydrogen with conventional natural gas. Finally, Naveriya Gas will inject the blended fuel into its City Gas Distribution pipeline systems, providing dependable, sustainable energy to its customers.

An important advantage of hydrogen blending is the reduced carbon footprint in the home and industry energy supply. The project would reduce carbon emissions when hydrogen is blended into the gas system rather than using pure natural gas. Furthermore, hydrogen blending utilizes the gas distribution pipe infrastructure we have in place today, avoiding the inconvenience and expense of building an entirely new infrastructure when transitioning to cleaner energy. This also aligns directly with India's international commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.

This project also reinforces Desco Infratech's position as a key engineering firm providing efficient and sustainable utility networks. It also reinforces a broader industry movement toward building future-ready solutions that address both current energy demands and future environmental goals.
