DS Group Supports School Infrastructure Upgrades in Rural Muzaffarnagar

The DS Group had facilitated infrastructural development at a government school in Buchcha Basti village in Purquazi block of Muzaffarnagar District of Uttar Pradesh as part of its community development programs.

The newly developed school campus was inaugurated on 8 May 2026 by Kamal Kishor Deshbhusan, CDO of Muzaffarnagar. The inauguration was also attended by the officials of the district education department, the Gram Panchayat, and the school administration.

The infrastructure development project consisted of building a boundary wall, putting up iron fencing, developing a main entrance gate, and building Learning Aid (BaLA) paintings throughout the school campus. These developments have been made keeping in mind the campus safety and learning environment.

According to the company statement, the school did not have any boundary walls or gates before, which created problems related to campus safety and disturbances for students. The interventions have been made taking into account such factors, especially for female students.

Buchcha Basti village is about 35 kilometres away from Muzaffarnagar city. It is a predominantly agriculture-based village, and literacy rates in the village stand at 43 per cent, where 16 per cent are female literates. The Composite School caters to 74 students of Classes 1 to 8.

The project involved coordination between the company, local administration and school authorities. Additional work included toilet construction and repairs, ground levelling and installation of paver blocks within the school premises.

DS Group stated that the intervention is part of its community development work focused on rural education infrastructure and access to safer learning spaces in underserved areas.

Prabhakant Jain, General Manager, Sustainability and CSR at DS Group, stated that the organisation is focused on supporting safe learning environments through community-based development activities.

District officials also acknowledged the infrastructure support provided to the school. Kamal Kishor Deshbhusan stated that improvements in educational infrastructure can contribute to better learning conditions and increased community confidence in local schools.

This is an indication of how the company is increasingly getting involved in CSR practices pertaining to education in rural areas, infrastructure development and promoting gender equality. Improved infrastructure in schools has been associated with higher rates of attendance and participation from the students.

The company claims that this work done by them has increased safety and lowered disruption during educational activities. It also claims that this work will help them have better attendance and class participation rates.

DS Group, which was earlier referred to as Dharampal Satyapal Group, works in various industries, such as food and beverages, confectionery products, the hospitality industry, agri-businesses and retail. It has also engaged in sustainability initiatives, like obtaining green building certification for its corporate offices.
