Fog, Smog, and a Hint of Chill: North India Welcomes Early Winter
According to the IMD, fog covered several parts of Delhi-NCR early this morning. It is also expected that misty conditions may persist throughout the day.
The monsoon has now left North India and slight winter chill has now started to set in. According to the India Meteorological Department, from October 30 to November 3 i.e. for the next four days Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh are most likely to be dry. However, in these regions, cold mornings and nights coupled with dense fog can be seen.
As per the IMD, from here till mid-November, North India's minimum temperatures will gradually fall, while maximum temperatures can go up a little which is a sign that winter is setting in. Visibility in these states can reduce because of early morning fog, and dense fog from November 15 can start impacting road and air travel.
Delhi-NCR was shrouded in dense fog this morning (October 30), bringing down the temperature to a low of 18–20°C. On its part, the Meteorological Department predicts light fog throughout the mornings in the next five days. On the other hand, the maximum temperature may reach up to 28 to 30°C in the afternoons. Apart from this, light rain could also be witness in the NCR on October 31, and that may bring down the minimum temperature to around 16°C.
In the NCR, the sky will continue to be clear between November 1 and 3, but a blanket of smog will most likely be present during morning and evening hours. In the case of Uttar Pradesh, scattered rain with thunder and lightning is predicted today and tomorrow (October 30–31) in eastern areas like Lucknow and Prayagraj, accompanied by wind speeds of 30–40 km/h.
