The Rockefeller Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to the Just Transitions Incubator to support Bangkok Climate Action Week in 2026 and 2027, aiming to strengthen climate cooperation and locally led action across Southeast Asia.
The Rockefeller Foundation awarded JUTI a $300,000 grant for the Bangkok Climate Action Week in 2026 and 2027. This money will help create a group with a wide range of people—like government reps, non-profits, community members, and business leaders—to plan the big event.
The event's set for October 3 to 11, 2026, in Bangkok. The grant will cover organizing, managing, and promoting the week. Plus, it will help create a space where folks can share what they've learned.
Importantly, the effort will spotlight local solutions to climate change. It's aimed at boosting teamwork between outfits tackling climate issues across Southeast Asia.
Deepali Khanna, the Rockefeller Foundation's Senior Vice President and Head of Asia, says the platform lets governments, communities, researchers, charities, and businesses talk about climate and development issues in the region. The foundation's funding will help these climate groups work together and back projects from the events. It'll show ways to boost resilience, jobs, and economic growth tied to climate and development in Southeast Asia.
Leo Horn-Phathanothai, who started Bangkok Climate Action Week, says this team-up approach aids cooperation and sustained climate action throughout Southeast Asia. The Rockefeller Foundation helped out during the first Bangkok Climate Action Week in 2025.
JUTI began that same year in January, focusing on climate tasks and getting various parties to collaborate in Southeast Asia. Their main event, Bangkok Climate Action Week, links local outfits, community teams, policy-makers, money backers, and businesses working on climate and sustainability issues.
Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026 happens before the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings in October. It'll give regional folks a chance to talk climate stuff too.
