Healthcare Global Enterprises (HCG) reported a decrease in Scope 1 emissions to 468.77 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent from 981.24 in FY2023-24, however, Scope 2 emissions stood at 34,415.84 metric tonnes against 34,088.95 in the earlier year.
In its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), the company said that it is trying a shift to low-carbon energy sources and lessen its dependency on fossil fuels. Compared to FY2023–24, when it was 18,784.99. 17,960.27 units were used in FY2024–25, all of which came from renewable sources.
To fulfill the future need of electricity, the company has installed solar panels at its facilities to promote sustainable energy adoption, the company said in the report. For instance, a 2.25-megawatt solar plant has been set up in Jagaluru Village, Karnataka's Davangere district. This plant is projected to produce 45 lakh units of clean energy annually, offsetting around 3,300 tons of carbon emissions each year. Additionally, it is expected to reduce energy costs by approximately 70%.
As per the BRSR report, company's total waste generated stood at notable levels across different categories in FY2024-25. Plastic waste amounted to 29.79 metric tonnes, a sharp drop from 595.54 metric tonnes in FY2023–24. E-waste generation rose slightly to 2.09 metric tonnes compared to 0.59 metric tonnes in the previous year. Biomedical waste continued to form the largest share, with 426.16 metric tonnes generated, up from 380.73 metric tonnes in FY2023–24.
