HMT has released its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for FY 2024–25. The report highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability, transparency, and responsible growth across all its operations.
The company works in two main sectors, industrial and consumer sectors. On the industrial side, the company makes machines and equipment used in dairy and food-processing plants and on consumer side, it manufactures watches. The company also follows all 9 principles of the NGRBC, which are government standards for ethical and responsible business.
Environmental Responsibility
HMT run its business in an environmentally responsible way while minimizing environmental impact. During the year 2024–25, the company used 19.14 million KJ, all from non-renewable sources. Although the amount of energy used per unit of revenue rose because the income of the firm is low. HMT still followed all key environmental laws including the Environment (Protection) Act, Air Act, and Water Act.
In water management, the company has sewage system treatment and recycling systems to reuse water and ensures no harmful chemicals are used in manufacturing process. Waste is properly managed through approved recycling vendors.
Employee Welfare and Safety
HMT has a total of 58 employees with 33% are women. All employees and workers are covered under health and accident insurance, provident fund, and gratuity benefits. During the year 2024–25, the company did not have any workplace accidents, it follows good safety measures. The firm also follows the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, which means providing job opportunities for people with disabilities. The company also provides training to all the employees and workers to improve their safety awareness, health practices, and professional skills.
Governance and Ethics
HMT runs its business in transparent way. The company has official rules such as ESG Policy, Code of Conduct, and Whistle-blower Policy. It has three level systems stronger so that every part of its operations is monitored and accountable. structured three-tier ESG framework under Board oversight to ensure ethical and compliant decision-making. The firm also follows rules against bribery, ensures fair business practices and buys goods responsibly from its suppliers.
CSR and Community Development
HMT carried out several social welfare activities as part of its CSR work. During the fiscal year, the company used its CSR funds on healthcare, education and community well-being. It has donated medical equipment to hospitals and provided study materials to schools in Karnataka. These initiatives have benefited 27,000 people, including those from poor and underprivileged communities. Any complaints or feedback about these CSR projects from the community can share it through the government’s Central Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS). This system ensure that all issues are handled openly and resolved quickly.
