HPWWI and Biesse Partner to Advance Woodworking Skills in India

In a notable development for Indian manufacturing, the Hettich Poddar Wood Working Institute (HPWWI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a global machine manufacturer Biesse. The MoU was signed on Friday, November 11, 2025, in Mumbai and aims at enhancing skill development in India's growing woodworking sector through the infusion of technology into apprenticeship training.

The main goal of this partnership is to improve practical training on advanced woodworking machinery. This initiative aims to give learners the skills they need to connect traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing processes. The collaboration builds on the existing relationship between the two organizations, following a successful partnership in Faridabad. It also marks Biesse's official entry into India's financial capital, Mumbai.

Mr. Amit Prasad, CHRO of Hettich India and Director of HPWWI, highlighted the institute's goal of creating a setting where skill development matches technological progress. He mentioned that incorporating Biesse’s advanced woodworking machines into their training program will help students learn and create with top-quality tools, thereby enhancing their readiness for industry work.

Sayeed Ahmed, the big boss at Biesse India, agrees. He said India's woodworking scene is quickly going from old-school methods to using fancy tech stuff. This deal isn't just about getting new tech; it's really about helping people get better as the industry changes. He believes things really get done when machines and skilled workers team up.

Walter Ferrara, Italy's main representative in Mumbai, was at the signing event (Technology Day with Biesse). He said this partnership shows how Italian ideas and Indian skills can come together to make good things happen, help communities, and build a greener future. It also shows that Italy and India are getting closer.

The event had live workshops and hands-on sessions. These showed how Biesse's woodworking tech can fit into HPWWI's training. People got to see how students will get real-world, job-ready skills.

This partnership shows they both want to train people, protect the environment, and build lasting value for Indian manufacturers. By mixing HPWWI's teaching with Biesse's tech skills, this plan should really help India's workers. It will move the nation toward a smarter and greener future in making things.
