Hyundai Motor India Foundation Empowers Over 8 Lakh Women

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the philanthropic arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), over the years has impacted lives of over 8 Lakh women through various social initiatives.

These programs under the core pillars of Earth, Mobility and Hope, are guided by Hyundai’s global direction of Creating Shared Value - ‘CONTINUE’, emphasize long-term positive societal change. HMIF’s diverse initiatives focus on key aspects of social welfare such as healthcare, education, economic independence, and employment generation through upskilling.
 
Touching upon HMIF’s efforts towards women empowerment, Mr. Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head - Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social - HMIL said, “Through our dedicated efforts at the Hyundai Motor India Foundation, we firmly believe that empowering women drives lasting societal change. Empowering over 8 Lakh women annually, we are proud of the impact we've achieved so far, and we aspire to continue our effort towards upliftment of underprivileged women through constant innovation and collaboration with local communities.”
 
HMIF’s Sparsh Sanjeevani program is dedicated to making healthcare more accessible and inclusive, particularly in remote areas where quality medical services are scarce. Through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) and Telemedicine Centres, the program provides essential healthcare screenings, hygiene awareness, timely detection of ailments, and diagnoses. Since its inception, it has reached 77,231 women through 52 Telemedicine Centres and 10 MMUs across India. Operating in eight regions, including Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, and Karnataka, the initiative has significantly improved healthcare access. Since 2024, it has also conducted awareness camps focusing on menstrual hygiene, women and child health, and cervical cancer screening, benefiting 4,561 women through early detection and prevention.

The Livelihood Support Programme empowers rural women across six districts of Tamil Nadu by providing them with financial independence and income-generating opportunities. Through this initiative, over 700 women have collectively generated an annual income of INR 6.7 crore, with an average additional monthly household income of INR 6,000 to 8,000, positively impacting more than 3,000 lives. The program currently operates in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Ranipettai, and Vellore, offering support in cattle rearing, financial literacy, tailoring and embroidery, juice shops, oil pressing, and other trades. To enhance skill development, beneficiaries receive refresher courses and exposure visits, ensuring long-term sustainability.

HMIF’s Drive4Progress Driver Training Program is designed to provide economic independence to women by equipping them with commercial driving skills. This initiative not only focuses on training but also supports their transition into employment, ensuring stable career opportunities. So far, 186 women have been trained, with 55 successfully placed in jobs, while 70 more are currently undergoing training. Additionally, over 50 women have been equipped with self-defense training, enhancing their safety and confidence in their professional and personal lives.
