IAC Promotes Auto LPG For Clean Air At Good Air Summit

The Indian Auto LPG Coalition (IAC) became a prominent voice for clean fuel alternatives at the 5th Edition of the Good Air Summit and Awards 2025, which was organized by the Integrated Health & Wellbeing (IHW) Council to mark World Environment Day. The summit offered stakeholders from the energy, transportation, and sustainability industries a crucial forum to discuss the critical need to address India's growing air pollution issue.

Mr. Suyash Gupta, the director general of IAC, was at the forefront of these conversations. He moderated the well-known panel on "The Future of Green Mobility – EVs, Smart Mobility & Clean Air" and also took part in high-level meetings. Mr. Gupta also provided insightful commentary in another thought-provoking session, "Powering the Future – Green Hydrogen & the Energy Transition," on how transitional fuels might help India achieve its environmental targets without resulting in infrastructure or economic upheaval.

Mr. Gupta emphasized the pivotal point that India is at in its environmental path in his keynote address. "India is at a critical juncture in its struggle against air pollution and climate change," he said. "We cannot afford to wait for a complete transition to electric cars when there are currently more than 330 million petrol and diesel vehicles on the road. An outright prohibition or immediate phase-out is not an option. Rather, we can offer an immediate, scalable, and affordable solution that significantly lowers emissions by promoting and incentivizing the retrofitment of current automobiles to Auto LPG.

Gupta emphasized that Auto LPG is not just much cleaner than traditional fuels, but it's also a financially feasible option for the typical Indian traveler. Gupta urged the government to take concrete steps by simplifying policies that encourage the use of Auto LPG and providing incentives for retrofitting. He claims that such actions would enable a realistic and quick improvement in the quality of urban air while simultaneously fostering a systematic and regulated shift toward sustainable, long-term transportation options like hydrogen vehicles and EVs.

India's total air pollution is caused by transportation emissions at a rate of roughly 40%, which represents a serious risk to public health, especially in heavily polluted cities like Delhi. The IAC emphasized that India needs quick answers that can operate with the current vehicle population, even though long-term investments in electric vehicles and hydrogen technology are necessary. Auto LPG meets this need flawlessly since it is a clean-burning fuel that may be installed through retrofitment for a small percentage of the price of buying a new car.

The IAC urged increased public awareness, comprehensive policy measures, and wider industry engagement at the top to extend the use of Auto LPG throughout the nation. It was also emphasized that, in addition to being alternatives, cleaner fuels should be integrated as mainstream elements in India's climate resilience and clean air policies.

The topic of the 2025 Good Air Summit was "Ending Plastic Pollution for a Sustainable Future," but it broadened its scope to cover related problems of air quality and urban sustainability. The event was in line with international agendas like the UN SDGs, the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration, which also highlighted the necessity for coordinated, cross-sector initiatives.

With over 300 important stakeholders in attendance—including legislators, entrepreneurs, environmental specialists, and innovators—the summit served as a melting pot for concepts, approaches, and collaborative solutions with the goal of fostering a healthier and more sustainable urban environment. The audience learned about cutting-edge innovations in clean energy, carbon-neutral transportation, sustainable urban planning, and responsible waste management.

The IAC stood out during the entire event as a loud supporter of immediate and concrete action. Its presence and advocacy reinforced the expanding movement toward cleaner fuel options and emphasized the need for collaboration among government agencies, the commercial sector, and civil society.

The Indian Auto LPG Coalition also used the conference to reiterate its long-standing commitment to promoting cleaner mobility options. Given that India's air quality is among the worst in the world, the Coalition stressed that switching to Auto LPG might result in a significant decrease in dangerous pollutants like nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide.

The IAC's message was unmistakable on World Environment Day, which brought attention to environmental challenges worldwide: now is the moment to act. Not only are clean fuels like auto LPG a transitional step, but they are also a vital stepping stone in India's path towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
